Drones autonomously building a rope bridge.

Aerial Filming UAV or drones does not always revolve around getting aerial imagery. Here we have another great purpose for drones, quite an exiting and promising prospect of what is to come in 2016. The video above shows aerial platform quadrocopters autonomously assembling a rope bridge. This is part of a body of research into aerial construction, a field that addresses the construction of structures with the aid of flying machines.

In this work, a rope bridge that can support the crossing of a person is built by quadrocopters, showing for the first time that small flying machines are capable of autonomously realising load-bearing structures at full-scale and proceeding a step further towards real-world scenarios.

Except for the required anchor points at both ends of the structure, the bridge consists exclusively of tensile elements and its connections and links are entirely realised by flying machines. Spanning 7.4 m between two scaffolding structures, the bridge consists of nine rope segments for a total rope length of about 120 m and is composed of different elements, such as knots, links, and braids.

Pro Res

Appel ProRes Codec for all project as standard:

About 1 year ago, while on the Pink Floyd new album music video film set, waiting for the director Ian Emes to take up to the sky and start shooting aerial shoots, I was introduced by Mike Carlson, to the assistant camera man to Appel ProRes codec.

This codec is the industry standard, and used for post production, to first retain all the information and have the right uniform frame rate for the project.
MP4 (H264) rate can cause problems when cutting in software like Adobe Premier.

So we will from now on deliver our video files in ProRes (4444) codec to help improve your workflow while retaining the full picture quality.

My Short film of the month:

Up and coming director here I reckon, someone to watch out for. Original idea, well produced, really enjoy it.
